Shoalhaven pet-friendly holidays
Can’t bear to leave your pampered pooch at home while you holiday? Don’t worry, the Shoalhaven region is one of Australia’s most pet-loving destinations, with a range of dog beaches and eateries, leash-free parklands, on-leash walking tracks and plenty of pet-friendly accommodation.
Things to do
This stunning area on the NSW South Coast offers a pawsome holiday experience the whole family can enjoy. Explore beautiful beaches, parks, rivers and walking tracks with your four-legged friend, then enjoy lunch at a pet-friendly winery such as in Ulladulla or near Shoalhaven Heads.
Watch your dog race through the sand at Huskisson, Culburra Beach and Currarong, where sections of the beach are off-leash exercise areas in the early morning and the evening. You can also let your dog off the leash at certain times of the day at Callala Beach in Callala Bay and Nelsons Beach in Vincentia.
For leash-free fun at any time of the day, head to Shoalhaven Heads and make the most of the dedicated leash-free areas on Seven Mile Beach and River Road Reserve. There’s a 24-hour off-leash exercise area at Bawley Point’s Cormorant Beach and at the Nowra Showground there’s even a dog agility park where you can try out some tricks.
After a day of fun, retire for the night with your canine in a hotel, holiday house or caravan park. You can both enjoy some luxury at the stylish Bannisters Pavilion in Mollymook. If you’re looking for a waterfront stay, South Coast Retreat in Greenwell Point is pet-friendly accommodation. Choose from luxury safari tents, cabins or a three-bedroom holiday house.
Anchored Currarong is a beautiful pet-friendly cottage in the seaside village of Currarong, or if you’re after something more rural try Mimosa Eco Retreat in Bawley Point. There are also a number of pet-friendly holiday parks in the region with cabins, caravan sites and camping. Choose from Holiday Haven Shoalhaven Heads, Holiday Haven Currarong, and Jervis Bay Holiday Park.
