Public Holidays

Country NSW is a good place to start if you are keen to attend NSW events during your time off, particularly at Christmas when there is a number of yearly events to choose from. Favourites include the Southern Highlands Christmas Fair.

No trip to NSW would be complete without visiting the Blue Mountains Area, whatever time of year it is, and public holidays are no exception. Make sure to visit the Jenolan Caves, an extensive cave network that is not to be missed, as well as the breathtaking plants on show at the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden.

One of the features NSW is most known for is its selection of top-quality beaches up and down the coast. If you are keen to take advantage of sun, sea, sand and surf during your public holidays in NSW you need not look far, with options aplenty in the north and south.

Port Stephens and Byron Bay are both in the north, with the former renowned for its 26 idyllic beaches, while the latter is a haven for people who want to immerse themselves in the surf culture.

For an alternative to an afternoon at the beach then the Central Coast offers a range of exciting activities including dolphin watching tours, or if you are travelling in June and July, try and catch a glimpse of migrating whales.

Spending time on the South Coast? The Jervis Bay National Park is a popular choice, with some truly spectacular beach walks on offer - the White Sands Walk from Greenfield Beach to Hyams Beach being particularly notable for its scenic beauty.
