Inspired by a mate’s home brew, twins Simon and Joey Panucci started making their own beer. As their passion (and popularity) grew, they eventually opened South Yeast Brewing in 2020, around the corner from where they grew up.
The craft microbrewery – located in an industrial estate in North Nowra – pours some fascinating flavours.
Past creations include a banana milkshake IPA, while the current tap line-up might include Cherry Bomb sour ale.
With the brothers having worked at Nowra’s hipster Hyper Hyper Coffee, it’s no surprise they nominate their Hyper Stout – a coffee chocolate stout infused with Hyper Hyper’s European-style Blend 6 espresso – as the brew they feel best represents them and their deep connection to the community.
A rotating line-up of food trucks and musicians – many of them local – add to the brewery’s vibe.
