Australia Day is the nation's day to celebrate what's great about living in Australia and being Australian.
The Gunnedah Shire celebrates the national day with a variety of free community activities for all residents and visitors to share.
Celebrations begin in the lead up to Australia Day with the Australia Day Trivia Night held at the Gunnedah Golf Club, then its the Australia Day Awards Dinner held the night before in the Town Hall. This enables all the community to have an opportunity to attend the many planned activities on the program.
Weather permitting, the day starts early with triathlon events, combined church service, free family breakfast sausage sizzle, raft and craft race, people and pets parade, cake bake off, chess Challenge, dash for cash, athletic events and free entry to the Gunnedah memorial Pool.
Gunnedah's Australia Day program varies annually, with the program released early January each year. Check out the Gunnedah Shire Council website for all the detail.
