Why go there
Close to the Perisher Blue ski fields, it provides a cheaper accommodation alternative to the main ski lodges. Sawpit Creek has an idyllic setting amidst a snowgum forest. There’s an abundance of wildlife including inquisitive eastern grey kangaroos and possums, which come right into the resort grounds.
History
The area was traversed by Polish explorer Paul Strzelecki in 1839-43. The creation of Lake Jindabyne in the late 1960s brought the combined waters of the region’s rivers close to Sawpit Creek.
