Fast facts

  • Secluded country valley
  • Picturesque rural community
  • 95 km north of Sydney, district population 3,500

Why go there

Dooralong is set among beautiful valleys of rolling green pastures and lush farming country.

It has one of the best horse-riding centres in Australia, a major draw card for visitors that's nestled at the foot of the Wattagan State Forest.

History

In the 1900s, this area was famous for its red cedar forests. Today the area between West Wyong and Yarramalong features horse studs and turf farms.

Things to do

  • Explore parts of nearby Wattagan State Forest, which not only has superb mountain scenery but also good facilities for bushwalkers, four-wheel-drivers and campers.
  • Visit the Yarramalong Macadamia Farm in the Yarramalong Valley. Visitors to the State's most southerly macadamia farm can taste and buy direct from the farm.
  • Go horse-riding at Glenworth Valley Horse Riding, which has over 200 horses, suitable for beginners as well as experienced riders.

Don't miss

  • St Barnabas Church in Yarramalong – the oldest church in the Wyong Shire.
  • Fresh produce from roadside stalls.
