Family mountain holidays in NSW

During warmer weather the NSW mountain regions offer plenty of things to do for the whole family. There are adventure sports, horse riding, kayaking and water skiing, fishing and bushwalking.

Things to do in the Blue Mountains, Snowy Mountains, Barrington Tops

In the Snowy Mountains, take the kids horse riding, fly fishing, quad biking and trekking at Snowy Wilderness. At Reynella Rides, families are welcome to stay and ride at the Homestead, while teenagers can take on the six-day horseback safari. Swim in the warm waters of the natural thermal pool at Yarrangobilly Caves or go  mountain biking at Thredbo where you can hire specialist bikes and equipment before tackling fast runs.

In the Blue Mountains, don’t miss the Jenolan Caves ghost tour or a ‘Stones and Bones’ tour for families and fossil freaks. Other things to do include the six-storey high screen at The Edge cinema, the Zig Zag Railway, and Katoomba’s Scenic Skywalk, that glides 270m above the valley.

At Riverwood Downs in the foothills of the Barrington Tops World Heritage Wilderness, kids can bring their own bikes, go horse riding, canoeing, swimming, and bushwalking.
