Family fun in Port Macquarie
The Greater Port Macquarie area has 18 beaches, six of which are patrolled, and almost all of them are great for surfing and swimming. Three kilometres south of Port Macquarie is Flynns Beach, a 500m stretch that is perfect for swimming and learning to surf. Grants Beach at North Haven offers great surf and an excellent bushland walking track.
Come and meet the animals at Billabong Koala and Wildlife Park, home to an array of Australian and exotic animals, reptiles and birds. Learn more from the daily animal presentations, shows and keeper talks, or get your photo taken with a koala or dingo.
Fun for all the family, Timbertown Heritage Theme Park allows visitors to step back in time to experience the history of the region first-hand. Located in Wauchope amongst 87 acres of forest, Timbertown is a working heritage village that brings to life the everyday existence of Australian pioneers.
Port Macquarie wine
Port Macquarie is the ideal destination for wine lovers, with a huge selection of wineries and cellar doors. Vineyards in the region produce Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Pinot Noir, as well as Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Verdelho.
Visit bago vineyards for a rustic setting, traditional sparkling and varietal wines, and Bago's Jazz in the Vineyards on the second Sunday of the month. For award-winning wines and a superb restaurant, visit Cassegrain Wines or step back in time at Douglas Vale Historical Vineyard, built in 1862 for George Francis.
