Overview
Macquariedale Organic Wines began in 1993 in the Hunter Valley, NSW, setting a new standard for organic, low‑preservative, vegan‑friendly wines crafted with respect for the land and a commitment to natural flavour. Their pioneering approach earned them recognition as the first officially certified organic growers in the region.
For decades, Ross and Derice have championed sustainable viticulture, building a legacy grounded in integrity, passion, and a deep connection to nature.
In 2020, they made the heartfelt decision to relocate to the cool‑climate region of Orange, NSW. Their vineyard now sits high on the slopes of Mount Canobolas (Gaanha Bula), overlooking the picturesque Towac Valley at 1,100 metres above sea level, one of the highest vineyard sites in Australia.
Since the move, the Macquariedale story has continued to evolve. Their son Tom, now the winemaker, brings fresh energy while reinforcing the close-knit spirit of this family‑run vineyard. Every decision is made with care, and every bottle reflects a shared vision.
Together, the family has expanded the vineyard and property, opened a warm and inviting cellar door, and created a destination that celebrates connection, experience, and exceptional wine. Their commitment to natural farming—free from synthetic chemicals, herbicides, and pesticides—remains the foundation of everything they do.
