Sourdough Class with Stephen Arnott
Highlights
Overview
Ready to master the art of sourdough? Join Stephen Arnott, co-founder of Morpeth Sourdough Bakery and a master baker with over two decades of experience. He's been perfecting sourdough since 2001, carrying on a family baking tradition that spans generations—his great-great-grandfather, William Arnott (yes, the Arnott's Biscuits founder!), even baked here at the Historic Arnott Bakehouse back in the 1860s.
Stephen and his wife, a Master of Food Microbiology who brings the science behind the perfect loaf, are dedicated to true, authentic sourdough. Their bread's unique texture and taste are a world away from the "fake" products out there, and they're ready to share their secrets with you.
Their hands-on class is designed to teach you to make genuine sourdough at home, using your own domestic appliances under normal kitchen conditions. You'll get to mix, shape, and bake (at home much later) your very own loaf, experiencing every step from flour dust to crusty perfection! The class is structured in defined stages, full of practical techniques, helpful tips, and some fascinating scientific insights. And the best part? It all takes place in the original 1850s bakehouse kitchen at the Historic Arnott Bakehouse in Morpeth, a beautiful historic village in the Hunter Valley with plenty to see and do.
