A relaxed, hands-on introduction to Japanese tea with Taka Kaneko, Certified Japanese Tea Instructor and member of the NPO Nihoncha Instructor Association. Two hours, split evenly between understanding the tea and actually making it.

Part One — Tea Knowledge (60 minutes)

The history and culture of Japanese tea.

What's in the leaf, and the health benefits.

The main types of Japanese tea and how each is brewed.

How green tea is produced.

How matcha is produced.

Part Two — Hands-On (60 minutes).

A guided demonstration of proper technique.

Prepare your own bowl of matcha.

Brew your own cup of green tea (sencha).

Questions welcome throughout.

Who it's for.

Anyone curious about Japanese tea. No experience needed and nothing to bring. This is an educational workshop rather than a formal tea ceremony — come as you are.

Small by design.

Every session is capped at 10 people, so everyone gets real time with the whisk and there's room to ask questions properly.
