Belongil Beach is a 2.5km stretch of pristine beach just 1km north of the Byron Bay town centre. The beach is dog-friendly, offers great snorkelling opportunities, its north end is clothing-optional and is patrolled by lifeguards on select dates.
Belongil is ideal for a long beach walk, being less crowded than Byron’s Main Beach. It is relatively safe for swimming, however, it’s best to swim on the southern end near Byron Bay and when the beach is patrolled. Please check the Byron Shire Council website for local surf lifesaving information or the Beach Safe Website for more details.
