Travel along the Poacher's Way
Located throughout the region from Canberra to Collector, Bowning to Bungendore and everywhere in between, The Poacher’s Way is a journey that brings together a collection of local artists, chefs, winemakers, and rural hosts who are keen to share their produce and stories.
Getting to Country NSW
There are plenty of good reasons to head to Country NSW – amazing food, fine wine and local produce, stunning national parks and townships steeped in history. Here are a few tips on how to get to some of the region's major towns in this vast region that stretches from north to south across NSW.
Major towns are well serviced by regular flights from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Qantas and Regional Express fly to Albury, Armidale, Dubbo, Griffith, Moree, Narrandera-Leeton, Narrabri, Orange, Parkes, Tamworth and Wagga Wagga. Hire a car from the airport and you're on your way.
The CountryLink rail network operates to around 360 destinations linking Country NSW with Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Canberra and regional NSW.
If you have time to travel at a more leisurely pace, why not follow one of the scenic drives that take you to some of the region's most interesting destinations. They include the Poacher's Way, based around the towns of Gundaroo, Hall, Yass and Murrumbateman, The 100 Mile Diet in Central NSW, and The Long Paddock drive that stretches over 600 km along the Cobb Highway. Easy-to-follow itineraries for each drive offer useful tips on where to stay and what to do.
