Fringed by powder white sand and tranquil blue water, Callala Bay is an ocean lover’s delight. Tucked into the northern end of Jervis Bay on the NSW South Coast, this relaxed coastal village offers calm swimming, snorkelling, fishing, boating and kayaking, as well as bushwalking and dolphin spotting.
With a boat ramp and jetty, Callala Bay is a great base to explore the crystal-clear waters of Jervis Bay. You can learn to sail with Jervis Bay Sailing Club. This scenic spot is also on the doorstep of Jervis Bay National Park, where you can follow the Hare Point walking track through sand forest and dunes to a pretty inlet. Nearby Hare Bay is popular with paddleboarders, kayakers and jet skiiers because of its calm waters. Keep an eye out for dolphins, which frequent the area.
Stretch your legs on the 11km Round the Bay Walk. Beginning in Callala Bay, stroll or cycle through Huskisson all the way to Vincentia. The accessible paved path is suitable for prams and wheelchairs. Alternatively, walk north towards Crookhaven Heads Lighthouse to see Aboriginal carved poles set against the backdrop of the Tasman Sea.

Open the second Saturday of each month, browse the stalls at Callala Markets, which sell homewares, bespoke jewellery, local pottery, handmade candles, boutique clothes, wood work and more. On those lucky months when there is a fifth Saturday, shop Callala Beach Makers Market. Grab a delicious breakie before browsing the goods made by Shoalhaven's best growers, sewers, bakers and creators.
Just south of Callala Bay is gorgeous Callala Beach, the longest beach in Jervis Bay, and backed by a reserve with barbecues and picnic tables. At Club Callala enjoy a bite to eat and a round of golf on the 18-hole course where kangaroos roam. A courtesy bus operates around the local area seven days a week.
Nearby is the village of Myola, located on the banks of Currambene Creek, a popular fishing spot. You can rent a boat from Elite Boat Hire and explore the pretty waterway. For a fun day out, take the Husky Ferry from Myola to Huskisson, where dolphin and whale-watching cruises depart. Here you can also hire e-bikes, boats, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards.
