Things to do: NRMA South West Rocks Holiday Resorts is a tranquil paradise for pets and their people. The holiday park is a short walk to town and its many pet-friendly eateries like the Heritage Beachside Café and Riverside Tavern. Dogs are also welcome on Trial Bay Beach and Back Beach, and the Back Beach Circuit, South West Rocks River Walk and Bushland Loop are lovely waterside walking trails.
Note: NRMA Foster Tuncurry Holiday Park, NRMA Darlington Beach Holiday Park, NRMA Stockton Beach Holiday Park, NRMA Ocean Beach Holiday Resort and NRMA Port Macquarie Breakwall Holiday Park are also pet friendly.

Things to do: If you and your furry friend are keen to explore the area around Big4 Saltwater Yamba Holiday Park, head to the gorgeous stretch of sand at the southern end of Pippi Beach for off-leash fun. Whiting Beach also welcomes pets on leash. Walk to Yamba Lighthouse with its surrounding park perfect for picnics and, between May and November, to watch whales migrating. Hop on a ferry (dogs are allowed on-leash) across the Clarence River for a day trip to Iluka. In town, the pet-friendly Wobbly Chook Brewing offers a great craft beer and all-day menu.

Things to do: At Reflections Holiday Parks Lennox Head you’re just footsteps from the sand. There are plenty of off-leash areas nearby, like Seven Mile Beach, Bicentennial Gardens in Ballina or hit the agility park at Alstonville Dog Park. Hike the 30-minute track to Pat Morton Lookout to see humpbacks breeching during migration season or seasoned walkers can continue on the Coastal Recreation path for the 11.5km trip to Ballina.

Things to do: Located right by the sleepy South West Rocks Creek, Ingenia Holiday South West Rocks is a lovely spot to set up camp before heading to the creek for a spot of fishing. For lunch or coffee, try Malt & Honey Cafe with its pet-friendly outdoor seating.

Things to do: Near Diamond Waters Caravan Park, dog-friendly beaches for long walks or playing in the surf, rivers and lakes, and forest trails abound. The park is a short walk to Dunbogan Beach which offers leash and off-leash areas. Head 25 minutes inland for a walk in Burrawan State Forest where you can see Old Bottlebutt, which at over 200 years old is the largest Red Bloodwood tree in the Southern Hemisphere. The vibrant Laurietown Riverwalk Markets brings together the community on the third Sunday of every month and welcomes pets.

Things to do: Beachfront Toowoon Bay Holiday Park welcomes dogs in its camping sites and is ideally located next to the dog-friendly North Shelly Beach where sheltered waters and the gently graduated shore make it the perfect spot for wading and ball-chasing. A five-minute drive from camp is Bayview Dog Park where there’s a grassy field for long games of fetch and a stunning beach with shallow water.

Things to do: Two Shores Holiday Village is on the shores of sparkling Tuggerah Lake on the Central Coast, which is one of the most welcoming places a beach-loving hound could visit. Just 20 minutes away at North Avoca Beach and Terrigal, pets can prance on the sand. Swap sand for bush to head into Strickland State Forest for a leafy adventure in the rainforest. On the third Saturday of every month, pick up fresh produce at The Entrance Market.

Things to do: Reflections Bermagui is a dog-friendly park at the centre of stunning Bermagui. Have a session of fetch on the sand at Beares Beach which is a fully off-leash beach. Headland Reserve has a grassy area bordered by sea cliffs where dogs can also roam free. There are no dogs allowed at the unmissable Bermagui Blue Pool, so you might have to take your swims in shifts. After a long day in the sun, bring your pup to Camel Rock Brewhouse for a tasting flight of ales and a rack of ribs.

Location: Merimbula

Things to do: With multi-million dollar views, direct beach access and schmick new facilities, it’s hard to believe NRMA Merimbula Beach Holiday Resort is a holiday park. Footsteps from your campsite stretch the sandy shores of Merimbula Main Beach, with an off-leash section perfect for chases and playing fetch. Fancy walkies? Take a stroll on the Merimbula Boardwalk that follows the northern edge of Merimbula Lake, then grab a plate of oysters and a glass of wine in the dog-friendly, al fresco Oyster Bar at Wheeler’s Seafood Restaurant.

Things to do: The only thing standing between Ingenia Holidays Eden Beachfront and the calm, aqua depths of Legges Beach is a bit of grass dotted with trees. Fish off the pier, take in the sailboats or hop in for a swim at sheltered Quarantine Bay.

Things to do: From Big4 Ingenia Holidays Wagga Wagga take your pooch on a tour of the immaculately manicured Wagga Wagga Botanic Gardens or try something a bit less structured: Wiradjuri Reserve, a dog beach that backs onto the Murrumbidgee River. Take your pup for a swim and if they’re still feeling energised head to the O’Halloran Park Agility Track to run through tunnels and over ramps.

Things to do: While furry guests at NRMA Bathurst Panorama Holiday Park aren’t allowed to attend Bathurst’s famous races at Mount Panorama/Wahluu, dogs are welcome on non-race days to walk the boardwalk loop at McPhillamy Park. Leave one person to relax in the cabin with the dog while you try out the mini golf, outdoor cinema and waterslides at the pool. Or head out as a family to sit in the courtyard at The Victoria Hotel.
NRMA Dubbo Holiday Park also welcomes dogs and is close to dog-friendly parks and the Dubbo Farmers Markets.

Things to do: Close to the famous ski-runs at Thredbo and Perisher, the area surrounding NRMA Jindabyne Holiday Park is full of pet-friendly fun. Take a scenic walk on the shores of Lake Jindabyne, pausing at the off-leash exercise area for some top-speed running. Or bring your fishing rod to fish on the lake. Visit in the winter and you might get the chance to play in the snow with your pup.

Things to do: Buckenderra Holiday Village is situated on a 40-hectare property along the shores of Lake Eucumbene. The unique, grassy landscape stretches as far as the eye can see with endless opportunities for long walks. The lake is a great spot for anglers keen to catch a trout or go fly-fishing. Most hire boats don’t allow pets, but you can fish with your furry friend from the shore.

Things to do: During the day, drop your pooch Big4 Opal Holiday Park’s doggy daycare and head to the artesian bore baths across from the park or the explore the incredible opal history of the town on a tour with Outback Opal Tours. Or bring your pup along for lunch at the Gourmet Gecko, where the outdoor dining area welcomes pets. In the evening, Lightning Ridge’s dark night skies and broad horizons make it an unforgettable spot for seeing the Milky Way stretch as far as the eye can see.

Things to do: Pup paradise Riverwood Downs is located on a 300-hectare property on the banks of the Karuah River. Well-behaved dogs are allowed anywhere on or off lead and will love the wide-open expanses of meadow, mountain bushwalks and bracing river swims.
Holiday parks in NSW typically allow one or two pets maximum per booking.
