Mount Kembla is a residential area in the Wollongong region. Kembla is an Aboriginal word meaning "plenty of game".

Kerosene mining was established in Mount Kembla in the 1860's and operated until 1880, at which point coal mining and the construction of the railway line began.

The Mount Kembla Mining Heritage Festival has become one of the Illawarra's premier community events in recent years, attracting thousands of local and interstate visitors in July.

Whilst visiting Mt Kembla pop in to Mt Kembla Hotel which is heritage listed and the oldest Weatherboard Hotel in the Illawarra. Grab a beer and enjoy scenic views of the Escarpment and surroundings or take a self guided walk of the town and learn about Mt Kembla's fascinating past.
