Maitland is a historical town with plenty of stories to share. Like the town itself, Maitland events are colourful, cultural, and offer a warm welcome to visitors and locals alike.

Thanks to its location within the beautiful Hunter Valley, many of Maitland’s top events are a celebration of all things gastronomic. The area is home to Maitland Taste, a food, wine and music festival, and Maitland Aroma, a coffee and chocolate festival, as well as the Bitter and Twisted Boutique Beer Festival.

Another local favourite is the Riverlights Multicultural Festival, a diverse event featuring live music, dancing, language classes, free food tastings, lantern making, and cooking demonstrations. Check out Play-Wel for Mai-Wel, a round robin tournament where teams from up to 20 local businesses go head-to-head in soccer, netball, cricket and volleyball matches, all while raising money for those facing disadvantage or disability.

To perfect your stay in the heart of the Hunter Valley, make sure you check out the variety of Maitland accommodation options available. Adopt Maitland’s laidback lifestyle by staying at a cosy bed and breakfast, or treat yourself to a sojourn at one of its private retreats.
