Tamworth Area - Rodeo and Horseriding

The Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre (AELEC)

Playing host to more than 50 events each year, the AELEC is the place to go for show jumping, rodeos, and alpaca events. Most major equine (horse) and rodeo events take place here, and with good reason - the facilities are second to none, with 478 stables and an arena seating 3,500 people.

See some of the best cutting horse action in Australia at the NCHA Tamarang Futurity. This western-style equestrian competition has been growing in popularity in Australia in recent years, with rider and horse working together to herd cattle in an impressive formation.

With more than $700,000 on offer in prizes, this is one of the key events held at the The Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre (AELEC) and will be held this year from Tuesday 31st May to Sunday 12th June.

The Australian Quarter Horse Championships includes the American Quarter Horse Youth World Cup. The American Quarter Horse has been bred for agility and fast sprinting speeds, so the Australian championships bring together the country’s best performers in a series of events including trail, horsemanship and western pleasure.

Rider and horse participate in various configurations and patterns for each event, where the relationship between the rider and the horse is paramount to complete the course successfully. You can enjoy the spectacle from the 8th to the 17th April. This is not a ticketed event and entry is free for spectators.
