Goulburn was Australia’s first inland city and can be found approximately two hours’ drive from Sydney and one hour’s drive from Canberra. Goulburn is a popular rest stop for road trippers, but it’s also an interesting town in its own right and well worth exploring.
Set against the vast Southern Tablelands of NSW, the architecture in Goulburn dates back to to the early 1800s with wide streets, grand churches and lovely public buildings. It’s also somewhat of a nature hub with great walking trails criss-crossing its dramatic pastoral landscapes. Goulburn accommodation options are varied and feature everything from holiday parks to hotels, motels and self-contained cottages.
The Goulburn events calendar includes a plethora of weekend markets, plus some arts festivals and sporting events. Held in March each year, the Goulburn Show is a highlight showcasing live entertainment, show jumping and vintage cars, as well as wood chopping and livestock competitions.
