Taronga Western Plains Zoo - Dubbo
With more than 300 hectares of bushland, Taronga Western Plains Zoo is home to 600 animals from all over the world. It is widely recognised as Australia's greatest open range zoo. The adventure begins with a journey along their six kilometre world safari circuit in your own car, alternatively you can hire an electric car or bike at the zoo.
A behind-the-scenes 'Early Morning Walk' is a fantastic way to get close to some of the zoo's most exotic animals. Bookings unnecessary, contact zoo for tour days. Visitors can also participate in Animal Encounters; three tours that give visitors the opportunity to feed, observe and assist with programs for the Black, White and Greater One-horned Rhinoceros; Sumatran Tiger and African Lion. Bookings are essential.
For a special adventure, Zoofari Lodge offers on site zoo accommodation.
Opening times
Open 365 days from 9am to 4pm. Zoo Circuit: 9am to 3pm. Savannah Visitor Plaza: 9am to 4pm.
