Arts, culture and heritage in Corowa
There is a wealth of great stories to uncover in Corowa about rural life, and politics, in 19th century Australia. In 1893, the historic Federation Conference was held here, paving the way for Australia's first national government.
About Corowa
The birthplace of Australian Federation, Corowa, is 609 km south-west of Sydney, and an hour west of Albury. This classic country town nestled on the banks of the Murray River has many fine examples of traditional 19th century architecture that are easy to explore.
Take a self-guided town walk or enjoy a relaxing picnic on the banks of the Murray. Other activities include golf at one of the excellent courses in Corowa or Howlong or a glider flight or tandem skydive at the Australian Soaring Centre.
