Black Cockatoo Bakery is a much-loved sourdough bakery on Katoomba’s main street. The Katoomba outpost is the team’s second store to open (the first and original is in Lawson), and like its Lawson counterpart, the Katoomba outpost bakes a range of sourdough loaves based on different, organic grains plus seasonal viennoiseries such as pineapple danishes and chocolate custard doughnuts.
Unlike the Lawson shop, the Katoomba store has a small amount of indoor seating, ideal for taking up residence in cooler weather and enjoying a cup of Single O coffee.
The name Black Cockatoo comes from the birds that takes residence in the Blue Mountains, and which owner and baker, Alexandre Rivière loves very dearly.
