Tocumwal Chocolate School is a luxury chocolate retreat beside Whites Lagoon in the Murray River region, on the border of New South Wales and Victoria. It pairs tranquil waterside accommodation with immersive, small-group chocolate experiences.

Founded by chocolatier Wendy Alford, the school invites guests into the craft and science of couverture chocolate. For makers, creators and curious food lovers, every session balances technique with delight. Choose from beginner tempering, chocolate bonbon making, and one-day immersive workshops that build skills from moulding and filling to finishing and presentation. Seasonal pop-up classes add themed creations across the year.

Unwrap the magic: a chocolate journey is a guided sensory experience. It begins with real hot chocolate, then explores chocolate's story, ethics and origins. Guests handle cacao in its raw forms and taste a curated flight by origin and style, using a flavour wheel and a take-home booklet.

Small corporate experiences are welcomed, with private group workshops, lagoon-side downtime and optional meals for easy team building. The setting also suits private dinners for groups of eight or more and intimate wedding celebrations.

Boutique studios and an exclusive glamping bell tent complete the retreat, with a standout outdoor ensuite set in a classic woodie caravan. Optional gourmet breakfasts, relaxed lunches and elegant dinners are curated around seasonal produce with chocolate-inspired touches.
