Restaurants in Broken Hill

Visitors to the Outback NSW town of Broken Hill can expect a relaxed dining atmosphere with a selection of different restaurant styles to choose from.

The majority of restaurants and cafés in Broken Hill are located on the town’s main thoroughfare, Argent Street. Admire the street’s heritage architecture and visit popular local pubs. The street is also home to a number of hotel restaurants and bars that serve a range of foods from The Palace’s hearty meals, to The Astra’s Trinders restaurant’s tapas dishes. Weekend diners at the Royal Exchange Hotel can expect the sound of a live grand piano to accompany their meal in the Piano Bar restaurant.

For a taste of Broken Hill’s history, visit the delightfully authentic Bell's Milk Bar. The milk bar is famous for its malt milkshakes and spiders (soft drink mixed with creaming soda and ice cream) that are created using homemade syrups and cordials with a secret family recipe dating back to 1892. Visit the adjoining museum to admire its collection of Australian milk bar memorabilia.

There are also a number of takeaway options in Broken Hill, including the town’s first Indian restaurant, Masallas Indian Cuisine.
