Willayoung Orchard

Open for shed sales only, Willayoung Orchard is a family-owned and operated orchard near Young, offering seasonal stone fruit and cherries grown with flavour firmly in mind. The orchard shed opens during cherry season only, generally from November to December.

With deep family roots in the Hilltops spanning generations, Andrew and Helen Ricketts grow varieties selected for their taste rather than their ability to withstand long periods of storage. Fruit is left on the tree to approach full ripeness before picking, helping develop the sweetness and flavour that has customers reminiscing about how fruit used to taste.

Depending on the season, visitors to the orchard shed can purchase white and yellow peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots, cherries, figs and table grapes. A favourite is Willayoung Orchard's distinctive white cherries, which develop a delicate blush as they ripen and are prized for their crisp bite and flavour.

The small, friendly orchard shed offers a simple country fruit-buying experience, complete with a display of old cherry-growing memorabilia celebrating Young's long connection with the industry. Seasonal fruit from Willayoung Orchard can also be found at selected local farmers markets when available.
