The beachside paradise of Byron Bay is a region of outstanding natural beauty, set on the stunning north coast of NSW. Home to some of the state’s most well-known beaches, it's also an area renowned for its laid-back coastal vibe and friendly locals, with plenty to see and do.
The Byron Bay area has a calendar full of events to keep you entertained. Whether you’re keen to check out local markets, enjoy food and wine at the region’s festivals, such as the Ballina Fine Wine and Food Festival, or experience the local arts and music scene, there’s a variety of activities to suit a range of interests.
The region plays host to three major Australian music festivals; Byron Bay Bluesfest, Splendour in the Grass and the Falls Festival. All three festivals are multi-day events of music, arts and camping held annually. There’s also the 3-day Byron Bay Writer’s Festival, a cultural highlight of the region’s events calendar, with Australian and International writers, talks and panel discussions.
With its relaxed, no-worries attitude, Byron is also a natural home for sporting events, surf competitions and meditation and alternative lifestyle events, as well as ethical, sustainable and local food, and ecotourism ventures.
