Food and wine in Griffith
Griffith is at the heart of the vast Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area and produces about 60% of the grapes grown in the State. Visit big-name wineries such as De Bortoli and Hanwood, stock up on local produce such as jams, preserves or pasta sauces.
About Hillston
Situated on the banks of the Lachlan River, Hillston offers visitors old-world charm and a relaxed, laid-back attitude. The town is located in the region known as the Riverina's 'outback', on the Kidman Way from Jerilderie to Barringun in northern NSW. Water from a large artesian basin irrigates many food crops, including oranges, cherries, mangoes and olives.
Pack your binoculars for a spot of bird-watching along the Lachlan River or take a drive through Black Stump country and remote villages of Carrathool, Merriwagga and Goolgowi. At Willandra National Park you can camp out or stay at Willandra Cottage.
