Beach & Dune Tour with Sandboarding (1.5 hours)
Overview
Feel the ocean, the sand and the dunes on one tour.
Climb aboard a 4WD bus and drive onto Birubi Beach, following the shoreline a few kilometres to a stretch of sand. Step out and take your time. Feel the cool ocean water, the firm wet sand underfoot and the salty air on your face, with plenty of time for photos along the water's edge.
Your guide gives a short commentary on the beach and shows you the pipi wiggle, a simple twist of your feet that helps you dig these little shellfish out of the wet sand. Hold one in your hands, snap a photo, then release it back into the water.
When you are ready, head up to the sand hill for unlimited sandboarding on the largest moving coastal sand mass in the Southern Hemisphere, in the Worimi Conservation Lands. Slide down white dunes up to 30 metres high and stay as long as you like.
All ages are welcome. On the 3pm tour, sandboarding is limited to about 1 hour.
