HARS Aviation Museum Tarmac Days
Overview
Beyond the Museum's daily exhibits and tours, Tarmac Days bring aviation history to life by showcasing specific events and eras. Held outdoors beside the HARS hangars on the second Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of every month, Tarmac Days feature a display of unique aircraft from the HARS collection at Illawarra Regional Airport, Albion Park.
Visitors can climb aboard and see the cockpits of iconic aircraft, including the Lockheed Super Constellation, Catalina, and Neptune submarine hunter and many more. Knowledgeable guides lead aircraft tours throughout the day, offering fascinating insights into each display.
Take the time to explore the Museum's other standout collections, including the exceptional restoration work of HARS aviation volunteers and their replica of Kingsford Smith's Southern Cross. Be sure to see the Boeing 747-438 'City of Canberra', the Qantas passenger jet that set the world record for the longest non-stop commercial flight from London to Sydney in August 1989.
Take your experience further with a wing walk, cockpit tour, or premium guided tour of the Boeing 747 (bookings required) and get up close to the sheer scale and breathtaking detail of this record-breaking aircraft, the only one of its kind preserved in Australia.
