Overview
Skimstone Wines is a picturesque vineyard and cellar door in the Apple Tree Flat valley, just 15 minutes from Mudgee, where natural beauty, thoughtful winemaking and genuine country hospitality come together. Set along the Cudgegong River, the 36 hectare property offers sweeping mountain views, peaceful vineyards and a tranquil setting to enjoy estate grown wines.
With 16 hectares under vine, Skimstone Wines grows classic French and Italian varieties including Chardonnay, Shiraz, Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Barbera. Ancient riverbed soils, varied geology and a unique microclimate contribute to wines with depth, character and a strong sense of place. Ongoing vineyard regeneration supports healthy vines and exceptional fruit quality.
At the heart of Skimstone Wines is winemaker Jean François, whose European sensibility and hands on approach bring out the character of each season and vineyard. His handcrafted wines reflect the land, the climate and the distinct qualities of the Mudgee region.
The Skimstone experience extends beyond the cellar door, with beautiful vineyard accommodation overlooking the surrounding valley and mountains. Visitors can enjoy award winning wines, peaceful country views and a genuine connection to the land, all within a welcoming destination that captures the character and hospitality of the Mudgee region.
