Bulli history

Dating back to the 1860s, Bulli has a long history of mining coal – nicknamed black diamonds by the locals. Hear the stories of mining tragedies and underground heroism at Bulli Black Diamond Museum Heritage Centre. Located in the heritage-listed Bulli Railway Station, it is an apt spot to learn about the horse-drawn tramways and steam locomotives that serviced Bulli Mine.

Wander through Bulli to see it’s heritage architecture showcased in well-preserved pubs, churches, timber cottages and public buildings. For a hearty feed or cold drink, drop into the grand three-storey Bulli Heritage Hotel, which has been serving thirsty locals since 1889.

At the northern end of the beach take a dip in an Olympic-sized ocean pool dating back to the 1930s while toddlers splash in adjoining shallow pool. Stroll north to Sandon Point Beach, another gem with a pretty grassed area.
