Surrounded by fine beaches and rugged national parks, the coastal village of Bawley Point provides the perfect setting for a myriad of adventures. In this picturesque spot on the NSW South Coast, enjoy outdoor pursuits like swimming, fishing, boating and fruit picking.
Soak up the area’s natural beauty by swimming in the tranquil Termeil Lake, enjoying a beach picnic at Racecourse Beach or explore the rock formations at Wasp Head. A 30-minute drive west is Clyde River Berry Farm, where you can pick your own berries during summer, and buy farm-made jams and local bush honey.
Immerse yourself in the area’s heritage at the Murramarang Aboriginal Area, a reserve that protects a large midden and other indigenous artefacts. Walk along the coastline on the 2.2km Murramarang Aboriginal Area Walking Track to learn about this area of cultural significance, see where Aboriginal communities cooked and ate together, watch sea eagles and endangered sooty oystercatchers soar overhead, and soak up the views of Brush Island.
Murramarang National Park, South Durras
To the north, secluded Termeil Beach in Meroo National Park features the Meroo Head Lookout Walking Track, offering panoramic coastal views. To the south, a string of pristine beaches can be found in Murramarang National Park. Lots of walks start from the aptly named Pretty Beach. Spot wallabies and lyrebirds on the short and easy Pretty Beach to Snapper Point Walking Track. For a longer bushwalk, opt for the Pretty Beach to Pebbly Beach Walking Track, which climbs up the spotted gum forests of Durras Mountain before finishing at a beach famous for its turquoise waters.
Beach hop on the 3-day, 34km Murramarang South Coast Walk, which weaves past Depot Beach and Durras Beach before finishing at Maloneys Beach. Pre-book your stays at picturesque campgrounds or beachside cabins, or join a guided hike with an expert leader, villa accommodation and delicious meals.

Picnic at Pebbly Beach, famous for its resident eastern grey kangaroos. At nearby Depot Beach, enjoy the Rock Platform Walk at low tide and stroll through a towering rainforest on the Depot Beach Rainforest Walk. Then spend the night in nature at the beachside campground. Protected by the large southern headland, Bawley Beach has two surf breaks, including the iconic Guillotines. Beginner surfers and snorkellers will appreciate Gannet Beach's smaller waves and sheltered areas.
Pebbly Beach, Murramarang National Park
There are lots of accommodation options in Bawley Point including holiday parks, campgrounds, farm stays and cottages. Halfway between Ulladulla and Batemans Bay in the Shoalhaven region on the NSW South Coast, the villages of Kioloa and Termeil are just a short drive away.
