A scenic flight over beautiful Shellharbour on the NSW South Coast

On the spectacular Grand Pacific Drive, this wonderful region is less than two hours’ drive south from Sydney. The delightful seaside town of Shellharbour is perfect for a beach holiday and outdoor adventures. Just west is Albion Park, near the pretty Cascades rainforest walk in the Macquarie Pass National Park.

Along the stunning coastline, relax on white sandy beaches and enjoy surfing, swimming and fishing, as well as diving and snorkelling. Killalea is a charming reserve with rainforest pockets and two National Surfing Reserve surf breaks, The Farm at Killalea Beach and Mystics at Minnamurra Beach.

Family headed to the "The Farm" beach at Killalea State Park in Shellharbour

Explore nature walks in the Killalea's green expanse, winding your way down to the beaches. Nearby is the Bass Point Reserve, a significant cultural and natural heritage site. Here, too, are walking trails and littoral rainforest. In the waters off the point are six shipwrecks, the first dating back to 1879.

Shellharbour Scuba Centre offers diving tours in Bass Point’s marine area, including Bushrangers Bay Aquatic Reserve, where underwater cliffs are teeming with marine life. A short drive north is Lake Illawarra, perfect for a range of fun water sports. Picnics and cycling are popular on the foreshore.

You’ll find more exciting things to do in Albion Park, from steam train rides at the Illawarra Light Railway Museum and bushwalking, to aviation museum tours and the dazzling Wings Over Illawarra air show at the Illawarra Regional Airport.
