Shellharbour Area

Discover the natural beauty of the Shellharbour region, from gorgeous beaches and world-class surf breaks to rare littoral rainforest and a magnificent national park. You’ll find lovely nature walks, stand up paddle board adventures, aviation and railway museums, as well as amazing underwater worlds to explore.

Enjoy water sports on the serene Lake Illawarra. Learn to stand up paddle board with an accredited instructor, and explore the beautiful waterway between the Illawarra Escarpment and the Pacific Ocean. You can also join a tour that will take you out at sunrise or for an ocean paddle.

Along the stunning coastline, relax on white sandy beaches and enjoy surfing, swimming and fishing, as well as diving and snorkelling. Killalea is a charming reserve with rainforest pockets and two National Surfing Reserve surf breaks, The Farm at Killalea Beach and Mystics at Minnamurra Beach.

Explore nature walks in the Killalea's green expanse, winding your way down to the beaches. Nearby is the Bass Point Reserve, a significant cultural and natural heritage site. Here, too, are walking trails and littoral rainforest. In the waters off the point are six shipwrecks, the first dating back to 1879.
