Robert Foster 10-Year Memorial Exhibition - Still Making
Overview
This project celebrates the legacy of the late Robert Foster and his influence on contemporary practice. It will feature significant original works by Robert Foster, alongside a curated series of new collaborative pieces by 10 artists who worked with him or were shaped by his ideas.
Each invited artist was asked to select one item from the FINK product range and reinterpret it as an artwork. Artists were free to transform the piece in any way that reflected their practice—with no limitations on scale or quantity. They used finished products, raw forms and off cuts from forming processes. Participating artists are Ben Blakeborough, Sean Booth, Lara Knott, Cinnamon Lee, Dan Lorrimer, Sabine Pagan, Erica Seccombe, Oliver Smith, Blanche Tilden and the FINK Team.
Robert Foster (1962–2016) was a prominent Australian designer and silversmith, best known for founding the Queanbeyan-based design and manufacturing company F!NK + Co. He is most famous for designing the iconic, internationally renowned F!NK Water Jug, which is featured in permanent collections of prestigious global institutions including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, New York's Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Alessi Museum in Milan and the National Gallery of Australia. In 2019, Robert was inducted into the Design Institute of Australia Hall of Fame.
Still Making is a tribute and continuation, a conversation across time, materials and generations of practice.
