Living all the way through - Patrice Wills Exhibition

Modernist Scottish writer and poet Nan Shepherd expresses a sensual focussed immersion in nature which has been described as "living all the way through" whereby "everything is connected to everything else."

Patrice Wills is a Shoalhaven artist also interested in the relationship between the outer landscape of where she lives, and the inner landscape of the human spirit.

Her paintings and ceramics express how the self becomes inseparable from the surrounding environment. She presents human figures as integral to the story of the land as the wind, stones, rivers, and creatures, to remind us that we too are nature, longing for ways of being that are symbiotic, beyond the material world. The river, sky, sea, and shoreline operate as a protagonist, delivering more than just a background for human endeavour, but actively providing our sense of who we are.

Patrice has been selected as a finalist in major art awards, including the Archibald Prize, the Pro Hart Outback Prize, and the Fishers Ghost Art Award. Wills was selected for this exhibition as part of the Gallery's ongoing support for local artists.
