Raymond Terrace and Karuah
Overview
Raymond Terrace is a rural service district set on the banks of the Hunter River and further north traversing the Williams River.
The iconic King Street, with its grand 19th century timber buildings and elegant verandas, stand testament to the towns history. On the corner of William and Hunter Street is the Junction Inn overlooking the river. This was once King’s Hotel said to be the second oldest hotel in NSW.
A thriving shopping district, riverside park and Botanic Gardens as well as the many historic buildings attract visitors from far and wide. The riverside location makes Raymond Terrace ideal for water skiing, boating and long lazy picnics on the grassy banks and parklands.
Twenty minutes further north along the freeway is the tranquil riverside neighbourhood of Karuah. Ideal for waterfront picnics, throwing a line in off the jetty, exploring the National Park or the Karuah River. A great spot to moor a houseboat, try kayaking and tasting fresh oysters direct from the oyster farmer at Cole Bros Oysters.
The village is also home to the Karuah Oyster and Timber Festival held every October. Take advantage of the playground and picnic facilities at Longworth Park or extend your stay at BIG4 Karuah Jetty Village and enjoy the serenity!
