Exhibition Opening: The Neighbour at the Gate

Celebrate the opening of The Neighbour at the Gate with an afternoon of art, music and community.

The event will feature a special performance by the Ngarrgan-Mirriiyn (Morning Star) Choir, alongside a collaborative artmaking activity inspired by James Nguyen's Homeopathies – where trees grow, inviting visitors to create and connect through shared creativity.

The exhibition will be officially opened by Lucy Latella, Curator at the National Art School, who will share insights into this significant national touring exhibition and the ideas shaping its development.

Visitors are also invited to participate in a collaborative, drop-in ceramics workshop lead by National Art School Alumni, acclaimed artist Benjamin Akuila and to make a small incense holder, based on James Nguyen's major work Homeopathies - where new trees grow (2025). It's a hands-on opportunity to engage creatively with the themes and concepts explored throughout the exhibition.
