Hunter Drama is pumped to be getting its ‘rock on’ and bringing the smash hit musical School of Rock to the Civic Theatre this July. Based on the Paramount movie by Mike White starring Jack Black, the production features new music by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and promises to be an audience favourite for young and old alike.
Directed by Lauren Harvey, part of the creative team for Billy Elliot the Musical, with musical direction by ARIA nominee Dan Wilson, the show has 14 new songs as well as the original songs from the movie, guaranteed to bring audiences to their feet.
The cast comprises a young ensemble of Hunter Drama emerging stars led by Hunter Drama Artistic Director & professional actor James Chapman, in the hilarious role of Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star who poses as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight–A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band.
