Gyuto Monks of Tibet Residency

Crystal Castle welcomes the Gyuto Monks of Tibet for a rare and immersive cultural residency.

This extended stay marks the longest Gyuto residency at a single Australian venue, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience a living 600-year-old Tibetan Buddhist tradition.

Led by Lama Phurba on his first visit to Australia, four monks present a daily program included with general entry. Visitors can participate in a range of enriching experiences such as morning meditation, guided tours, meditation classes, crystal sound healing sessions, tantric art classes, Buddhist talks, and traditional healing empowerment ceremonies.

A highlight of the residency is the creation of three sacred sand mandalas within the Peace Dome. Known as the Tantric Trilogy—Guhyasamaja, Yamantaka and Chakrasamvara—each intricate artwork is carefully constructed over several weeks before being ceremonially dissolved, symbolising impermanence and renewal. Guests are welcome to observe this meditative process at any time.

The program runs daily, allowing visitors to move freely between sessions and explore the spiritual and cultural offerings at their own pace.

This unique residency provides a peaceful and reflective experience, set among the natural beauty of the Byron hinterland, and offers rare insight into Tibetan Buddhist practices and traditions.
