Come Fish With Us – Fishing Workshop & Try Fishing Sessions

Come Fish With Us is a free, family-friendly fishing event designed to reel in curious minds aged 8–14 and their grown-ups. Delivered by NSW DPIRD Fisheries, this hands-on workshop and "try fishing" experience is all about building skills, confidence and a lifelong love of fishing - minus the pressure, plus plenty of fun.

Set across Fawcett Park and Lance Ferris Wharf, the day features interactive workshops, practical demonstrations and guided fishing sessions led by experienced fisheries educators. Participants will learn the basics of recreational fishing, including equipment use, simple techniques, fish identification and responsible fishing practices - all in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Perfectly timed for the school holidays, this event offers an easy win for families looking to get outdoors, learn something new and enjoy Ballina's iconic riverfront locations. No prior fishing experience is required, and all activities are designed to be inclusive, engaging and educational.
