Time Portal
Overview
Step inside the historic Scone Lock-up at the Scone Museum and enter a world where past and present collide.
Time Portal is an immersive digital installation by artist Anna Fraser, housed inside the old jail cell at Scone Museum. Drawing on the museum's remarkable collection — from 16mm film reels to a Victorian wedding dress, a prickly pear mincer to a brass fire helmet — the installation weaves together light, sound and animation to bring hidden stories to life.
Developed over twelve months with the Scone & Upper Hunter Historical Society and local community, Time Portal transforms the historic lock-up into a multi-sensory portal through time. Visitors experience projected imagery, atmospheric sound design and moving image — an immersive encounter with the people, objects and memories that shaped this region.
Anna Fraser is a multidisciplinary media artist and designer with experience across Hollywood film productions and major public art projects, including Vivid Sydney. Notable works include Badu Gili at the Sydney Opera House and collaborations with the Australian Museum, Powerhouse Museum and Sydney Jewish Museum.
This project is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW.
