A symposium featuring vignettes in the life of Edward Denny Day will be held at Maitland Masonic Hall, Grant Street, Maitland.

Keynote speaker will be Dr Alice Neikirk, Senior Lecturer School of Law and Justice UoN-Courts and the Justice System in early Colonial NSW. Followed by six speakers; Ruth Trappel: "The Good: Day and the Port Macquarie Orphan", Kevin Short: "The Private Man: Was Day a Mason?" Michael Belcher: "The Ugly: Day and his maid/servant", Peter Fox: "The Leader: the 1840s Constabulary of the Hunter", Peter Woodley: "The Community Advocate: Maitland Hospital, Gaol and public life" and Lawrence Henderson: "The Hero: Capture of the Jewboy Gang".

There will be time allocated for questions and discussion.
Tickets include a light lunch and afternoon tea.
