Spin Poi Workshop – Week of Riverlights Program
Overview
Poi is a simple, fun and effective way to engage children of all ages and abilities. Poi helps to develop key physical and cognitive skills as well as encouraging creativity through expressive movement.
What is Poi?
Poi is a weight on a cord and poi spinning is the act of spinning the weight in circles around your body. Its simple, fun and helps your brain and body feel amazing!
Poi originated with the Māori people of New Zealand and is a cultural treasure (Taonga) still practiced today. The instructors include Māori language and culture into our practice in honour of this.
This activity is delivered by a certified Poi instructor.
This event will take place outdoors so make sure to wear sunscreen.
