Southern Cross Cinema
Overview
Discover the charm of the Southern Cross Cinema & Arts Complex, a much-loved local venue combining the magic of movies with a vibrant arts and cultural program.
Housed in the historic Southern Cross Hall, built in 1924, this community-owned, volunteer-run venue was lovingly restored and transformed into a local cinema by the volunteer committee of Hilltops Arts Incorporated around two decades ago.
Enjoy the latest mainstream movie releases, revisit much-loved classics and explore cinematic history through community-requested screenings and special retrospective programs, including the popular Silver Screen series. No movie outing is complete without a visit to the candy bar for traditional cinema treats and freshly popped popcorn.
Beyond the big screen, the complex is a welcoming hub for creativity and entertainment, hosting art workshops, music lessons and touring theatrical productions throughout the year.
Whether you're catching the latest blockbuster, enjoying a nostalgic film screening or experiencing the local arts scene, the Southern Cross Cinema & Arts Complex offers a warm, community-focused experience in a heritage setting.
