Event Details
Date: Sunday, 15 March 2026
Location: Coonamble Jockey Club, Coonamble NSW 2829
Set on the banks of the Castlereagh River, Coonamble is known for its rich agricultural heritage, wide open skies and warm country hospitality. Traditionally a sheep and wheat town, the region also plays an important role in cotton and grain production, making it a key part of western NSW's farming heartland.
While you're in town, be sure to explore the Coonamble Heritage Centre to learn about local and Aboriginal history, enjoy a walk or picnic along the Castlereagh River Precinct, and take in the striking silo art and town murals that celebrate the region's identity. A round at the Coonamble Golf Club or a meal at one of the town's welcoming pubs and cafés rounds out the experience. With extra time, nearby nature reserves or a drive toward Dubbo offer more to see and do.
Coonamble is an ideal destination for a country road trip. From Sydney, it's around 6–7 hours by car via Dubbo. Regional visitors can travel by train or fly to Dubbo, then drive about 1.5 hours north.
