Citrus Threads
Overview
Citrus Threads is a multidisciplinary runway and exhibition experience set in the Riverina, one of Australia's most significant agricultural regions.
Presented as part of Griffith's Spring Fest, the project brings fashion into dialogue with regional industry, using garment design as a lens to explore legacy, labour, materiality and place.
At its centre is a new collection by Nehma Vitols, developed through direct engagement with local citrus growers, packing sheds and multi-generational farming families. Their stories are translated into form, construction and surface — resulting in garments that act as both contemporary fashion pieces and cultural artefacts.
The runway presentation will take place outdoors at Memorial Park, staged at sunset and transitioning into night. This is followed by a week-long exhibition, where elements of the collection and accompanying documentation are installed as a visual archive of the region.
Citrus Threads sits at the intersection of fashion, agriculture and storytelling, offering a distinctly Australian perspective on how clothing can document industry, identity and lived experience beyond the city.
