Art Exhibition - Nexus: The Common Piano by Martin Rowney

Rusten House Art Centre presents an exhibition of sculptural assemblage artworks by Martin Rowney.

Nexus: The Common Piano reflects upon the familiar domestic piano as an embodiment of community. Pianos are an inherently communal instrument. In the past they were at the heart of community get-togethers, activating and supporting the communal voice.
The diverse and interconnecting parts of a piano work together towards a common harmony, in the same way that diverse people work together to form a community.
There are old pianos everywhere. Overlooked, undervalued. Yet each old piano has its own story, and encapsulates those of players, singers, dancers, composers, piano makers... Stories worth celebrating.
