South of Orange, along Forest Road is Gosling Creek Reserve, an environmentally based recreational facility. The Reserve offers open spaces, picnic areas, barbecues, walking/cycling/rollerblading pathways and play equipment, great for climbing, spinning and balancing!
Gosling Creek Reserve has been reclaimed from a pine plantation and is currently part of a regeneration program. Visitors will note a variety of native vegetation and a bird hide with two viewing platforms (one overlooks the reservoir and the other overlooks a wetland). The reservoir is regularly stocked with Golden Perch (Yellow Belly) and Trout for fishing, which is permitted from the foreshores. NSW fisheries regulations apply.
Due to the wildlife in the area, dogs (including dogs on leashes) are not permitted in the Gosling Creek Reserve. The nearby Bloomfield Park includes a leash-free area for dogs. All of this popular area can be accessed from the city via a shared cycle/pedestrian path.
