Fairbridge Children's Park
Highlights
Overview
Fairbridge Children's Park Molong is a distinctive destination playground and memorial landscape offering families a place to play, reflect and connect with history in the Central West. Set along Molong Creek a short drive from the village, the park blends creative play with storytelling in a calm, natural setting.
Designed as a place of reflection rather than a traditional monument, the park invites visitors to experience stories through movement and exploration. Its layout follows a child's journey across four themed precincts, linked by a central path that traces Molong Creek, a site of childhood significance. Timber play towers, climbing elements, slides and water play are woven into the landscape, encouraging imaginative and open ended play while creating moments for pause and contemplation. The design uses natural materials, shade and generous space to support inclusion, durability and comfort for a wide range of ages.
The park serves as a lasting memorial to the Fairbridgians, children aged between four and 18 who were sent from the United Kingdom under promises of care and opportunity, sharing a collective experience shaped by resilience and loss. Nearby village cafés, heritage streets and regional food and wine experiences make the location ideal for a relaxed family day out. Accessible paths and open sightlines support easy movement and supervision, inviting visitors to spend time, learn and reflect at their own pace.
