The friendly staff at the Walcha Visitor Information Centre can assist visitors with their enquiries and are armed with extensive knowledge of the area.
There is a huge range of maps and brochures available to inspire your next activity or trip. An abundance of outdoor activities on Walcha's doorstep can be accessed easily within a short drive from town. Highlights are Apsley and Tia Waterfalls, Budds Mare Lookout and Riverside (over 700 metres in depth from the rim of one of Australia's largest gorge systems).
The centre also offers free Loan-a-Bikes for visitors to discover the town.
Walcha's renowned Open Air Gallery of sculptures and artworks is a must-see, a self-guiding map and brochure are available at the centre.
Fishing and camping are popular activities around New England High Country, with an abundance of cool running streams and National Parks namely; Oxley Wild Rivers, Werrikimbe, Cottan-Bimbang, Willi-Willi and Nowendoc on Walcha's doorstep.
Walcha's topography lends itself to some great four-wheel-driving and motorcycling on the Oxley Highway or Thunderbolts Way (two of the best rides in Australia).
